Nemo Marlin Felkins is Dead...

For those of you who have seen our one and only surviving family fish, he is no more. Yesterday John was trying to feed him and for the first time in his short life, he did not fly to the surface and nibble on John's hand. He just stayed near the bottom of the tank acting mopey. He was good at sulking when we first got him a year ago, but had snapped out of it after about two weeks and enjoyed swimming all over the tank. We have had trouble keeping any other fish alive, so, my brother nicknamed him Killer, implying that Nemo somehow killed our other fish. If you saw him you would laugh because he was so tiny in comparison to all the other fish friends we bought for him. I think he was so saddened by this nickname and knew he could not overcome it, and that is what killed him.

On another note tank note, we found out yesterday that for whatever reason, many long fish like two we've had make an effort to jump out of the tank...like ours did! We named Matthew's fish Sandairy (poor fish), because right after we put him in the tank, he came flying out onto the carpet, which is the only thing that saved him. Our other fish flew out onto tile and probably met his end quickly. At least now we know that is just in their nature! So there you have an update on aquarium life at the Felkins!

Salt water aquariums (ours is technically a reef tank) and fish are very cool, but in my experience, goldfish last much longer! That is unless you have a brother like I did who thought the fish were cold and dumped hot water in to warm them up, or thought the fish looked dry and poured in Oil of Olay for it's dry scaliness!

Oh no! Are you gonna get more? Or give the fish a break? I might get Kenz one for her bday if you think that's a good idea. I could take her to pick one out....
