Kenzie and the Bean Stalk...

The funniest part of this whole science experiment is that Kenzie hates beans, and yet, she has to grow them! We planted them last week and two of them have really taken off! When asked what she thinks about her experiment, she says, "that is awesome!" Maybe we will at least have an appreciation for beans, even is she won't eat them.

Scooters and Scrapes and Soccer...Oh My!

The picture above is of Kenzie on her scooter! John, my official blog photographer, took this fun action shot of her. All blog posts need a picture, don't ya think!?

As I sit here and type this, I am reflecting back over our day...it was pretty eventful. John and I started the morning with a long bike ride. We had school and then I took John to the airport. After rooms were cleaned, Mason went to the golf course and Kenzie played with her friend on the street, until she had a run in with the concrete. Poor thing came in the house crying and was scraped up on her elbow, hands and her entire upper right leg, and I mean ENTIRE. With a little doctoring of the wounds, some ice cream, and some TLC, she was back up and playing in no time! After dinner, we swung by to pick Mason up from the golf course on our way to Kenzie's soccer game. We tied, but it was a great game. I even jumped out of my chair, screaming at the top of my lungs when we scored! For some reason kids soccer gets me really worked up...it is the cause of the few gray hairs I've found. Despite all of her scrapes and bruises, Kenzie played like a champ! Now the house is quiet and everyone is clean and in bed...whew...is it bed time yet?!?

The Hunt for Eggs and the Missing Soccer Sock

We were able to sneak in a quick egg hunt before the rain really started coming down in Jackson last Sunday. The kids thought it was big fun, and this year, we only lost one egg. Considering we hid 79 eggs, that isn't too bad! I'm sure my dad will run over it with his mower or it will be found somewhere in the flower beds...unless, Scout was responsible for the missing egg, in which case the plastic egg could probably be found by x-raying his stomach. He was great at finding the eggs as I hid them, so good in fact that we had to put him up so that the kids could have some too!

If you look closely, you will notice that Kenzie is wearing one grey and one orange soccer sock. Apparently, we experienced some bad weather and a tornado went through her room the day before her first game. With everything scattered all over the floor and many people involved in the search effort, we were unable to locate the other grey sock. With a massive cleanup crew, the sock was spotted the next day as her room was found under all the clothing and toy debris! That said, she did score a goal while wearing her one orange sock!

Soccer, Scout and Sweetness

The soccer season has begun! John took these pictures at one of Kenzie's first practices. The fields are right behind our house, so we either ride bikes or walk to practice. Since we are now a one dog family, Scout has started going with us to practice, and he loves it! The girls love Scout, because he is so sweet and warm. Our weather has been pretty cool during most of the practices, and they enjoy snuggling with him when they are sitting out during a scrimage. Kenzie has played on the same team for several seasons now and loves the friendships she has made. One of the moms came up to me at the last practice to thank me for how sweet Kenzie has been to her daughter. Her daughter is new to soccer this year, and evidently Kenzie has been showing her the ropes. I love hearing that she is being sweet to someone who is learning without anyone prompting her to do so! Kenzie could make friends with anyone. She is such a kind and caring little girl!

My Latest Obsession!

When I had to go looking for the wheels on my last vacuum, I decided it was time to replace old faithful. Really, it was not a very sad day, because memories of dirt spitting out at my shins when I tried to vacuum on the tile, were just not that pleasant. In my search for a vacuum that would work on our rugs, carpet and bare floors, I found the Bissell Healthy Home. John and I purchased it on our date night a week or so ago after having dinner with some friends. You might be thinking, "exciting date night," and I am here to tell you, it was! Buying something that helps make our house cleaner is definitely one of my love languages! At 9:30 at night, I could not wait to tear into that vacuum. After only going over our hallway, I had almost filled the container...yuck! It was good to see what my old vacuum had been missing...in a container that was immediately taken outside and thrown out! My other favorite part about this vacuum is it doesn't have that dirty sock/wet dog smell that my other vacuum did. Who wants to vacuum when it leaves your house smelling like a dirty sock. This one has a filter that purifies the air as you clean...at least that is what it says. I could care less if it cleans the air, as long as we do not have to live with that smell! There are also lots of fun attachments, which I have used to clean our baseboards, blinds, vents, fans, stairs, upholstery and kids! It's great!
